Feltex -

Established over 70 years ago, Feltex Carpets has built a reputation for being one of the world’s leading carpet manufacturers through consistently providing consumers with innovative, high quality and stylish floor covering solutions.

In the early 1990’s Feltex Carpets realised that they not only had a responsibility to offer consumers high quality floor covering solutions, but they also had a responsibility to care for the Environment in which we all live.

This resulted in an extensive review of all manufacturing plants and facilities within the Feltex New Zealand operation to determine how the company could improve their systems.

The company had a clear vision to become an Environmental Choice supplier to the building industry. Environmental Choice is the official eco-labelling programme in New Zealand, which operates independently from the Government, but the label is Government owned and endorsed.

In March 1994 Feltex Carpets was the first manufacturer in Australasia to become an Environmental Choice licensed supplier for the manufacture of Wool Pile and Wool-Rich Pile Carpets, which demonstrates the company’s long-standing commitment to minimise their impact on the environment in terms of materials used, water conserved, energy consumed, waste produced and discharged, and emissions.

In recent years Feltex Carpets has been encouraged by the significant changes in the building industry as Government Departments and other organisations have become aware of the environment and joined Feltex in their mission to protect nature earth.

Wool is a luxurious, natural, durable, sustainable, renewable, and biodegradable fibre, making it the most superior ingredient for quality carpet.

Knightsbridge -

Wool carpets are made from a naturally sustainable and biodegradable resource, and offer a number of properties that can aid wellbeing - from reducing noise, the ability to filter out harmful airborne allergens and regulating humidity. Wool absorbs moisture when the atmosphere is damp, and releases moisture when it's dry - this combined with a large capacity to absorb VOC irritants and odours (Volatile Organic Compounds) means it is a natural way to improve indoor air quality.

100% wool and wool-rich Knightsbridge carpets carry the EnviroChoice tick - meaning the manufacturing process meets stricter specifications in relation to key environmental indicators, independently audited by Environmental Choice New Zealand. As part of gaining this accreditation, the carpets have been made using less water, less energy and with ingredients kinder to the environment.
